Global Love Report Interview

Global Love Report (GLR): What is the name of your company?

Claire Gorman (CG): Puget Sound Matchmaking

GLR: Which cities/states/locations do you cover?

CG: I will cover the Puget Sound area, more easily recognized as the Greater Seattle area in Washington.

GLR: What was your career before entering the matchmaking industry?

CG: While I am still getting ready to launch fully into matchmaking, my prior career was in higher education.

GLR: Why did you decide to become a matchmaker?

CG: Many failed first dates led me into a journey of discovering what it takes to have a healthy relationship. But, it was a combination of my newfound passion and my mother’s dating coach that led me to become a matchmaker.

When my mom hired a dating coach about eight months ago, I was listening to her call in the kitchen, and for the first time ever I thought to myself, I need that job. Some industry research led me to the Global Love Institute, and now I am certified and on the way to launching!

GLR: Did your perception of what a matchmaker is/does change after being certified?

CG: Since I actually did not know of this industry until weeks before the certification I cannot say my perception has changed very much. The most surprising aspect of matchmaking for me was all of the different modalities of recruiting.

I cannot say I was prepared to go do recruiting out in the field when I went into the certification. I am excited to see how I grow and learn from the community and make my mark on the industry.

GLR: What are you looking forward to as a matchmaker?

CG: I am most looking forward to being able to do meaningful work, connecting others with potential partners, and guiding them on their journey to love. I am also excited to grow as a dating coach and be able to help others holistically.

GLR: Have you met any other matchmakers? If so, how has that experience been? Are you open to collaboration in the future?

CG: Meeting other matchmakers is definitely a goal of mine. I have not been able to meet anyone in my area yet and I am open to collaboration!

GLR: Do you have any advice for people still considering if they want to be a matchmaker or not?

CG: To those considering the matchmaking industry, I would advise that it is possible. If you are passionate about relationships and are good with people then give the certification a go!

GLR: Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions, Claire!
